October Frightmare Contest
Written by Gregory

We're not afraid of anything. That's what being brave is all about. But I'll bet some of you twisted folks out there know a tale or two that could get us to heebie our jeebies like Indiana Jones hanging over a pit of snakes. So send 'em in!

We're looking for creature features here. I don't want to hear about the time you walked in on your parents, unless you walked in on your parents battling an electric demon that came from your mom's possessed cellphone. Also, if you're going to go by the old standbys, try to give them that new bent. Double points for original monsters.

Contest deadline is the night before Halloween. The winner and runners up will be published in a special edition Halloween issue. For this contest I'm looking for original fiction, no reprints, between five hundred and four thousand words.

1st prize: $100 via PayPal

5 Runners Up: A copy of Permuted Press's MONSTROUS Anthology

Contest closes at midnight GMT-6 (Central Time) on October 30th! Get your gear in here!

Contest participants agree to grant Brave Blue Mice first world electronic distribution rights. Good luck!

Written by Gregory

Now accepting submissions for our 2011 Issues.

We're back from hiatus, and our inbox is overflowing with fantastic tales, but that doesn't mean we're in the clear. We're ramping up our editorial schedule to bring you more mice more often.

We're looking for flash fiction and short stories up to 7K.  Limits are negotiable.

Currently, Brave Blue Mice is not a paying market.  We offer exposure and will add banners and other promotional materials to our jumprooms.

We like wierd, bizarro, horror, noir, sci-fi, and the occasional high fantasy piece.  Feel free to blend genres.  Please, no fan fiction.

Brave Blue Mice requests First Publication Rights to new work, and non-exclusive electronic distribution rights for as long as your piece remains on our site.  You may elect to have it run as long as you like, the default is indefinitely.  It's your work, and we respect that.

We like reprints- most other markets don't.  Remember that once your work is published, another market may not be interested in it.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, threats, or vulgarities, please do not hesiatate to contact us and your correspondence will be treated with the utmost care possible from a half ton gorrilla.

All guidelines subject to change with or without notice.  Brave Blue Mice will not be held responsible for submissions eaten by the staff.  That's what mice do.

My lovely lady came up with the title.  She’s kind of fantastic that way...
Eventually it all comes down to this, doesn’t it?  I’ve crafted a wonderful character with a detailed backstory, some wonderful nuances and habits, and even believable speech patternsthat stand out in a crowd scene.  It’s a character every reader can picture in their minds and relate to on a personal level.
            And it’s time
